Intent:
The National curriculum for Computing aims to ensure that all children:
At Beechview Academy, these skills are embedded throughout computing lessons as well as during cross curricula opportunities and developed consistently over time to advance practice and depth of knowledge. We understand the importance of digital literacy in everyday life; with pupils developing skills in order to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology. Computing and the understanding of how digital systems work is critical to modern life and with deep links with maths, sciences, design and technology. We recognise the importance of creating honest, respectful and responsible users with a strong understanding of cyber safety. We recognise that computing is required in most forms of employment and to be active independent participants in a digital world. We want our pupils to be confident, curious and ambitious with the uses, applications and potential of computers, especially due to the continually changing nature of computing in the world.
It is important that we are aware that our cohort of students may not always have consistent access to computers or internet services at home so it is therefore important that through our computing curriculum they are exposed fully to computing concepts, terms and technology and become competent, independent and respectful users.
