What is the PE and Sports Premium?
The PE and Sport Premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils.
The aim is to develop an enjoyment of sport and physical activity, and to promote a healthy lifestyle in children from an early age. Schools receive Physical Education (PE) and Sport Premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6.
How can the PE and Sports Premium be spent?
Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but have the freedom to choose how they do this. This might include:
At Beechview Academy, we value the importance of sports and physical development for our pupils. We have a PE lead and sports coach who works closely with classroom staff so teachers and pupils have a PE Curriculum that is broad, balanced and high quality both within the school’s timetable and beyond.
Pupils participate in a range of sports tournaments, some organised by the Academy Trust and others against other local schools and within local leagues.
Pupils can attend sports sessions on most school days after school and also during most holiday
